John gives us deep insight into the nature of the Word. He tells us that all creation was made through the Word and that the Word became a man and lived with us. He also tells us that the Word was not only with God from the beginning but was God from the beginning.
The Word of God is the creative, active, moving part of God. Nothing is done; no action is taken in the universe by God that does not happen through his Word. All activity that does not have its foundation or does not rise out of the Word is not of him and is from the enemy. All activity in the world that does not rise from the Word of God is a universal cancer, a mutation of God’s original intent. All of man's activity, all of his behavior, every choice that does not rise from the Word of God is at war with the nature and the will of God.
In the world today we are on a great battlefield a battlefield that has existed since Eden. The Word makes war on everything not like itself and everything that does not proceed from the Word makes war on everything that is of the Word. The Word became a man (Jesus) and by example showed us what a human at peace with God and at war with the mutation of creation that does not proceed from the Word lives like. The Word has also been manifested as scripture. Hebrews 4:12 tells us that the Bible is not a book of rules but is alive and active to destroy all the works of the enemy. The enemy’s works are everything that does not proceed from the Word.
All humanity is on one side of this battle or the other. There may be ignorant, unaware humans but there are no neutral humans. Our lives either proceed from the Word of God (Jesus) or it proceeds from the hand of the enemy, either from the "Tree of life" or "The Tree of the Knowledge of Good and Evil. Our activities in this life proceed from one of two sources, from the Word or our own knowledge of good and evil.
NEXT WEEK: THE WORD AT WAR WITH GOOD AND EVIL.
